Putting technique to work and creativity to play.
In 2022, CEDIM, Monterrey’s first design school, was in need of a design update that accurately portrayed its impressive trajectory as one of Mexico’s top design universities and number one in its city. Therefore, Nodo embarked on the quest of developing a new font system that resulted in two distinct custom typefaces.
CEDIM Play is an experimental unicase typeface that joyously embodies the creative development that can only be found through an educational experience at CEDIM. With the use of basic geometric forms such as the square and the circle, and mindful to honor origins and trajectory – both in form and as part of the school’s history –, CEDIM Play becomes a lively, monospaced, visual language that reinforces its singularity, reminiscent of machine-like imagery, through its modular quality.
The CEDIM Play typeface acts as a milestone for the university’s visual identity, revealing an impending need that was fulfilled through its seamless integration to the university’s brand system, as if its place had always been just right there.
Features: 326 custom glyphs, 2 weights and full set of unicase diacritical marks.
